Man killed in crash northeast of Longmont

A man was killed in a crash on southbound Interstate 25 that closed the interstate for much of Monday morning, northeast of Longmont near the intersection of I-25 and Colorado 66.

The interstate was closed for more than four hours from exit 245, the exit for Weld County Road 34 in Mead, to mile marker 243, south of exit 243, according to a warning on COtrip, the Colorado Department of Transportation’s traffic-mapping website.

The man, who was driving a pickup truck, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a Colorado State Patrol news release. The truck rolled over after a crash with a work van in a construction zone, the release states.

The driver of the work van did not report any injuries, according to the release.

I-25 reopened as of 10:39 a.m., the COtrip warning states. The Colorado State Patrol had responded to the crash at 5:55 a.m., according to the release.
