One dead in fatal crash in south Denver suburb

One person died in a crash midday Monday that closed lanes of a busy avenue for several hours in Cherry Hills Village.

An adult man died in the two-vehicle crash at 11:52 a.m. Monday on Belleview Avenue near its intersection with University Boulevard, Cherry Hills Village police Chief Jason Lyons said. Nobody else was injured, he said.

Police closed the westbound lanes of Belleview Avenue for approximately four hours due to the crash. They reopened the lanes at approximately 4 p.m.
