Brighton driver injured in crash with train, police say

A 29-year-old man was injured early Sunday morning after a train crashed into his car in Brighton, police said.

Brighton officers responded to the crash on train tracks near North Fourth Avenue and East Longs Peak Street at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday, according to a news release from the police department.

When they arrived, officers found a car resting on the train tracks between East Long Peaks and East Bridge streets, police said in the release.

Paramedics took the driver, a 29-year-old man who has not been publicly identified, to the hospital with “severe injuries,” police said.

The man was the only person in the car, which was on the tracks when it was hit by a northbound train, police said. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash.
