Body of missing British diver found off Gili Air

“The victim was found dead by the SAR team this afternoon,” Coordinator of the Bangsal I SAR Alert Unit I Gusti Komang Aryadana in North Lombok.
Peter’s body was discovered at 1:20 p.m. at a depth of around 12 meters, close to the site of his initial dive.
Despite emergency cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) performed by medical staff at 1:33 p.m., he could not be revived.
Aryadana credited the swift discovery to coordinated efforts involving the Bangsal SAR Alert Unit, the NTB Regional Water Police, the IX Udayana Military Command Post, Manta Dive, the Gili Air diving community, the Fire and Rescue Agency, the North Lombok Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), Nusa Medica, and local residents.
The incident occurred after Peter undertook a solo shore dive at 11:00 a.m.
Concerns were raised when he failed to resurface after an hour, prompting a missing person alert and rapid deployment of rescue teams.
His body was evacuated by boat to Tembobor Hamlet, then transported by ambulance to Bhayangkara Mataram Hospital for further procedures.
“With the discovery of the victim, the search and rescue operation in Gili Air waters has been officially closed,” Aryadana said, while urging tourists and operators to remain vigilant during sea activities to prevent future accidents.
