Puppies and PC games: Kim Jong Un promotes ‘modern’ living at housing ceremony

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un promoted puppies and computer games for residents of a new residential skyscraper district in the capital on Monday, according to state media, celebrating the claimed completion of his five-year, 50,000-home project.
State propaganda’s focus on the Hwasong Area’s latest consumer options appears to be part of Kim’s recent push to offer more “modern” lifestyle choices to wealthier North Koreans under the nominally communist system, on par with the middle class in neighboring countries.
