Eid Al-Fitr at Palace: Prabowo prioritizes public over officials

Jakarta (ANTARA) –

President Prabowo Subianto hosted a public open house for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah at the Presidential Palace complex, reflecting a spirit of togetherness during the celebration.

State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi on Saturday explained the concept of the open house event, noting that President Prabowo had previously directed that the event would not mandate the presence of state officials.

“Several days ago, the president conveyed that attendance by officials, was not mandatory. He did not wish to impose, as they may have prior commitments or family engagements. Therefore, this afternoon’s event is specifically intended for the general public,” the minister said in a press statement.

President Prabowo is also scheduled to greet attendees directly, continuing the tradition of previous years.

The number of attendees is projected to reach around 5,000. The government is not imposing strict limitations, instead allowing the public to participate voluntarily.

“Indeed, we are not limiting or organizing events as we normally would. For example, like the Independence Day celebration, we are giving the opportunity to the public who wish to attend voluntarily. They are welcome to attend, as long as it is possible. We welcome them to enter the Palace grounds,” Hadi noted.

He emphasized that the Presidential Palace open house is part of an annual tradition, but this year with a focus on simplicity and empathy for the community.

“As we also conveyed in the circular, we urge government officials, ministries, and institutions to reduce open house and halal bihalal activities because, as we all know, people in various regions are still experiencing difficulties. Therefore, the president has chosen to prioritize the general public,” the minister continued.

In addition to the general public, the head of state is also scheduled to receive visits from previous presidents, including the sixth President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and the seventh President Joko Widodo.

“God willing, it is planned this afternoon,” Hadi remarked.
