Soekarno-Hatta handles nearly two million passengers over Eid period

Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) – State-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia reported that Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang served 1,983,067 passengers from D-7 to D+3 of the Eid al-Fitr period.

“Based on our records from March 14 to March 24, we have served 1,983,067 passengers,” General Manager Heru Karyadi said on Tuesday.

The 1.9 million travelers were handled through 13,184 aircraft movements, marking a 5.6 percent increase compared to the same period in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic.

“As of today, we have served 13,184 flights, up 4.7 percent from 2025 and 5.6 percent from 2019,” Karyadi added, highlighting the sustained growth in passenger traffic.

Passenger volume peaked on March 14, with 184,000 travelers, exceeding the projected 177,000, Karyadi noted, reflecting strong demand during the early homecoming period.

During the peak return flow on March 28, the airport expects two waves, totaling 198,387 passengers and 1,221 flights.

Domestic destinations driving traffic growth include Denpasar, Kualanamu, Makassar, and Surabaya.

Popular international routes during Eid include Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

Karyadi said airport operations remained smooth, supported by strengthened inter-agency coordination and optimized terminal services despite high passenger volumes.

Transportation support includes 24-hour shuttle buses and other modes, while the Skytrain operates until 11 p.m., adjusted for a five-hour daily maintenance schedule.

“We maintained full personnel readiness, focusing on arrival areas, aerobridges, arrival corridors, and transportation services to ensure smooth operations during the return flow,” he added.
