Indonesian Minister urges women- and child-friendly Eid homecoming

“We appreciate the various facilities that have been prepared to support women- and child-friendly homecoming travel,” Minister Fauzi said in a statement here on Saturday.
She conveyed the statement while reviewing preparations for the Eid homecoming flow at Merak Port, Banten.
The facilities include the availability of special toilets for women and children, clear and accessible travel information systems, child-friendly play areas, and proper lactation rooms for breastfeeding mothers.
“In addition, the SAPA 129 Post is ready to serve as a complaint center if there are indications of violence or harassment,” she said.
The review was conducted to ensure the readiness of transportation infrastructure and service facilities for travelers so that journeys during the Eid period can take place safely and comfortably to all people, especially women and children.
She also emphasized the importance of service officers who are responsive to the needs of women and children, as well as adequate security and monitoring systems to prevent potential violence, harassment, or emergency situations during the homecoming trip.
“I praise the playroom facilities on the ship. Earlier we saw directly that children on board were no longer busy with gadgets, but could play and interact with their parents,” Fauzi said.
According to her, the facility is very positive because it creates a warmer travel atmosphere and strengthens togetherness between parents and children. When facilities are comfortable, families can enjoy the journey more harmoniously.
